Mike PaxinosMike Paxinos is the founder of Pax Academia, a classical enrichment academy rooted in the belief that students should be taught how to think, not what to think. With over 20 years of experience in education—including 16 years at the college level and five years working with K–12 students—Mike brings both deep academic grounding and practical classroom experience to his work.
A longtime Clark County resident, Mike created Pax Academia to provide an educational environment that emphasizes clarity of thought, intellectual discipline, and meaningful engagement with ideas. The school is designed as a complement to creative pursuits such as music, art, and theater, offering students a rigorous foundation in philosophy, logic, mathematics, science, and the great books. He believes true learning begins when students are challenged to think deeply, reason carefully, and pursue both imagination and understanding in harmony. In addition to his work in education, Mike is actively involved in independent research and development related to learning systems and artificial intelligence. He currently has two pending patents related to memory and information architecture, with a working prototype in development. This work informs his approach to education—particularly the importance of teaching students how to think thoughtfully with technology, rather than becoming dependent on it. At Pax Academia, technology is treated as a tool to support learning, not a substitute for reasoning, dialogue, or human judgment. Outside the classroom, Mike enjoys biking, hiking, fishing, and camping. Pax Academia reflects his lifelong passions for teaching, philosophy, and helping young people build disciplined minds and thoughtful lives. |
